Application of Water-Soluble Polymer/Biopolymer Combined with a Biosurfactant in Oil-Wet Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs

چکیده
Most fractured carbonate reservoirs are characterized by a highly permeable fracture zone surrounded low-permeability oil-wet matrix. These features make the displacement of oil from matrix into almost impossible during water flooding. This paper presents results flooding with polymer polyacrylamide (PAM) and biopolymer xanthan gum (XG) in combination biosurfactant to enhance imbibition rocks. Core experiments were conducted on induced horizontally (at 180°) cores room conditions (20 ± 2 °C). The or was used plug zones, while added system alter wettability state rock water-wet. Rock surface characterization before after core using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). indicate that PAM led higher reduction 35.6% fracture-matrix permeability than XG at 18.3%. monitoring production also showed ultimate recovery levels for aforementioned systems 16 8.7%, respectively, which can be attributed drive mechanisms temporary plugging as well mobility ratio improvement due alteration biosurfactant. SEM images confirm proposed mechanisms, where presence polymer/biopolymer followed detected result chemical flow through system.

Foam Application in Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs: A Simulation Study
Fractured carbonate reservoirs account for 25% of world’s total oil resources and for 90% of Iranian oil reserves. Since calcite and dolomite minerals are oil wet, gas oil gravity drainage (GOGD) is known as the most influencing production mechanism. The most important issue within gas injection into fractured media is the channeling problem which makes the efficiency of gas injection process e...
متن کاملRedeveloping Mature Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs
Naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs (NFCRs) comprise the majority of the oil and gas reservoirs around the Persian Gulf. Many of these reservoirs have a long history of exploitation, but vast amounts of oil remain in place. A major redevelopment process for light oil based NFRs will likely be the use of horizontal wells combined with gravity drainage at constant pressure based on voidage...

متن کاملSurface Chemistry of Oil Recovery From Fractured, Oil-Wet, Carbonate Formations
Oil recovery by waterflooding in fractured formations is often dependent on spontaneous imbibition. However, spontaneous imbibition is often insignificant in oil-wet, carbonate rocks. Sodium carbonate and anionic surfactant solutions are evaluated for enhancing oil recovery by spontaneous imbibition from oil-wet carbonate rocks. Crude-oil samples must be free of surface-active contaminants to b...
متن کاملApplication of Decline Analysis in Fractured Reservoirs, Field Case Studies
Decline curve analysis has some advantages over transient well test analysis in which it is not required to shut-in the well and also wellbore storage effects do not exist. Few studies have been done on decline curve analysis of naturally fractured reservoirs but there are even some limitations with available models. On the other hand well test could be expensive and in some operational conditi...
